Nigerian Entrepreneurship Initiative

The Initiative is the brainchild of The AA Trust, founded by UK based entrepreneur, Alexander Amosu, and Urban Consult, a UK based business consultancy.

The Initiative was started to augment the efforts of the Federal Government in Nigeria, which through its agency, the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) aims to establish a vibrant MSME (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises) sector that will encourage and enhance sustainable economic development of Nigeria.

The target of the Initiative is to introduce and help manage enough enterprises over the next 30 years to totally eradicate poverty in Nigeria.

The Initiative will organise seminars, workshops and events across the country which will be centred on entrepreneurship with the aim of helping young entrepreneurs and providing networking opportunities for those involved.

Prominent and successful entrepreneurs, journalists and academicians from Nigeria and across the world will be invited to speak at these events.

Over the next five years the Initiative will oversee the creation of seven business advisory centers in each of the six geopolitical regions of the country, plus the countrys political capital. The proposed locations for the business advisory centers are Lagos (commercial capital of Nigeria), Abuja (political capital), Kano, Sokoto, Maiduguri, Enugu and Port Harcourt.

The centres will provide a host of business advisory services including:
  • Development of business plans
  • Industry and local market analysis
  • Business valuation and appraisal
  • Offering free business classes
  • Contact negotiations
  • CFO services
  • Mergers & Acquisitions
  • International business development
  • Strategic planning and assessment
  • Financial model design
  • linking MSMEs to sources of finance by working closely with the large commercial and local micro finance banks
Each center would also be responsible for the establishment and maintenance of regional business networks which will provide multiple levels of support for its members.

Lastly the Initiative would also act as a business accelerator helping to turn local SMEs into high profit sustainable global companies using Nigeria as a strategic headquarters and base for international expansion.

The Initiative will build a global network which will offer huge investment opportunities for Nigerias brightest entrepreneurial talent and connect these entrepreneurs with investors, management talent and strategic partners from across the world to turn their innovation into a global success.
